ABOUT

Abby Wolpert is a musical theatre lyricist and librettist based in New York City. Her work combines a love of camp with classic musical theatre craft, telling new stories that frequently highlight women’s voices. Her one-act musical Don’t Go Out With Peter (music by Jack Theiling) premiered in May 2024. She is currently developing a campy, femme-forward adaptation of the cult-classic horror film The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (music by Brandon Scott Grayson). Her original songs have been performed or are forthcoming at The Green Room 42, Berklee Power Station, and The Dramatists Guild of America.

Abby began her writing career as a poet, a foundation that continues to inform her lyrical voice and narrative approach. Outside the theatre, her writing has appeared in The Cardiff Review, Levee Magazine, and The Southern Poetry Anthology Vol. IX: Virginia.

She holds an M.A. in Writing and Production for Musical Theater from Berklee NYC and is a lyricist in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop.
